Celebrating Significant Wedding Anniversaries
If you were Married in 1992, 1977, 1967, 1957 or 1947 you are invited to a Mass of Thanksgiving in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Mourne Road, Drimangh, Dublin 12, on Sunday 15th October 2017 at 12.00 noon as we celebrate with those who are marking Silver, Ruby, Golden, Diamond and Platinum Wedding Anniversaries. This is also for people who are widowed.

There will be light refreshments served afterwards

Safeguarding Sunday
As we prepare for the World Meeting of Families in Dublin next August, we should recall the words of Pope Francis:

Families need to know that the Church is making every effort to protect their children. They should also know that they have every right to turn to the Church with full confidence, for it is a safe and secure home”.

Considerable efforts have been made in the Archdiocese of Dublin to ensure that the Church is a safe and secure home for children. Last year alone, nearly 1,200 people attended one day safeguarding training sessions and a further 1,500 attended information sessions. We now have almost 400 parish safeguarding representatives who are working alongside clerical and lay colleagues to ensure that best safeguarding practice is followed in each of our 199 parishes. I commend this work and I am grateful to those of you who have accepted this responsibility.

We offer our help as trained volunteers who have gone through our own losses and realise that the experience of grief is something that people shouldn’t have to go through alone. Falling Fruit Ireland – Food Sharing Project

Fallingfruit.ie is a project to harvest the seasonal glut of local fruit (apples, pears, plums, nuts, etc.) in Dublin and to direct it to charities that cater for those in need. Each year hundreds of fruit trees go unpicked. ‘Falling Fruit’ organises a team of volunteers to pick the fruit and distribute it to local charities or other good causes. In 2017, we also aim to collect surplus vegetables from the grower’s fields – gleaning for charities!

This initiative acts as a helpful service to households who have fruit going to waste in their gardens. It also serves the community by directing the surplus fruit to local charities, where possible. Contact bernie@fallingfruit.ie or Tel. 086 2134897 if you wish to offer fruit or volunteer.

Radio Mass: The 11am Mass this Sunday will be broadcast on RTE Radio 1 Extra, on Long Wave 252 and SaorView Channel 201.  Web access is at www.rte.ie/digitalradio/radio1extra or you can listen back at www.rte.ie/radio1/mass.

Parish Pastoral Council meets for the first time after the summer on Monday 25th September.  We welcome issues or contributions.  Chair: Michael Moriarty.

    1. Sorry that your were disappointed on this occasion. Unfortunately due to technical problems with Kairos/RTE, the Mass broadcast from St Francis Xavier’s Church wasn’t possible and was replaced with Mass from Radio na Gaeltachta. Thank you for your comment and interest in Gardiner Street Parish.
