During April Pope Francis invite us to pray: That economists may have the courage to reject any economy of exclusion and know how to open new paths.

“How do economists throw light on human activities, purposes and values? For Christians these values are grounded in our sense of human life as a divinely created gift that we must honour responsibly and share generously. It is fatally easy to imagine economics simply as the study of money or finance as such…We pray this month that economists may understand their work as a vocation, discerning how the workings of an ‘economy’ may increasingly serve the shared human good.”

Last week’s Collections, Church €770, Share€477 Thank you.  The Blue Bag is for the Church Collection (St Francis Xavier’s Gardiner Street),

April’s Monthly Mass for Blessed John Sullivan SJ with Blessing of the Sick and Thanksgiving for his Life will celebrated on Saturday 21st of April at 1pm.

The Blessing of the Sick incorporates the celebration of the Eucharist, an offering of Prayers and Petitions to Blessed John Sullivan and a Blessing with his Crucifix after Mass.

Fr Joe Mallin SJ died last Easter weekend. A fitting time for the son of Commandant Michael who was executed by the British for his role in the Easter Rising in 1916. He wrote to Joe (aged 3) from his prison cell, and asked him to become a priest. Joe died as a Jesuit missionary in Hong Kong. He was 104 years old. Below is an account of the Irish Jesuit mission in China. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
