Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God still, and trust in me.

John 14:1

Dear friends,

The summer is bringing new blossom and new hope to us as we see a lifting of the restrictions on the horizon. According to the “Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business” published by the Irish Government, cultural and social activities are scheduled to re-open on 20th July. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has asked parishes to produce a detailed plan of preparations for this date. There remains the possibility that our church may open in advance of this (respecting all the basic regulations regarding social distancing and hand hygiene), but there is also the possibility that this date be put back if there’s a further outbreak. We are praying for as early an opening as possible. We celebrated the Feast Day of Blessed John Sullivan at the 11am Mass on Thursday (his birthday and memorial), somebody who understood illness so profoundly and who is praying for all of us at this moment. Through Fr. John’s intercession may we find a deeper meaning to what we have lived through over these weeks and months. The Sacred Heart Novena is in preparation; Fr. Kieran O’Mahony OSA will lead us through a rich contemplation of the Heart of Christ in Luke’s Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. It looks as if we will have to pray the Novena online so, if you can, get some advice how to log on to your website and view the Masses via the Webcam or via the church Short Wave Radio. Wishing you continued blessing and healing as the summer advances.
