Fr John Sullivan Annual Mass was on Saturday 20th February at 11am – great to see a church full for this wonderful occasion. People travelled from far and wide to be here. We had visitors from Hilltown, Co Down who hire a bus every year to come to this Mass. It was great to hear their stories of the many blessings and extraordinary healings they have experienced through the intercession of Fr John. Relatives of Fr John, Peter and Sarah Lloyd travelled from the UK again this year to join us in our celebration. There was a a great sense of celebration after the Mass – long tables set up for the Hilltown guests, other visitors mixing and mingling along the corridor and even 100th birthday celebration going.
Fr John Sullivan is very precious to the Jesuits in Ireland; he unites us all to what is the heart of our Christian faith; tenderness and mercy.
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin presided and gave the homily and the reflection after communion was done by Church of Ireland Archbishop Michael Jackson. Jesuit Provincial Fr Tom Layden also concelebrated with Fr Gerry Clarke SJ, Parish Priest, Fr Conor Harper SJ (postulator for the cause of Fr John Sullivan’s canonisation), Fr Paul Farquharson SJ (vice postulator)
